Caldwell Hart Colt (November 24, 1858 – January 21, 1894) was an American inventor and yachtsman. Biography. Caldwell Hart Colt was born in Hartford, Connecticut, the son of Samuel Colt, founder of Colt's Patent Fire-Arms Manufacturing Company (now known as Colt's Manufacturing Company) and Elizabeth Jarvis Colt.

After the death of Samuel Colt in 1862, Elizabeth Hart Jarvis Colt commissioned the building of the Church of the Good Shepherd as a memorial to him and their three children who passed in infancy.
