Rowena Farre (26 February 1921 – 9 January 1979) was a British writer who achieved fame for her first book Seal Morning, published in 1957.
8 de sept. de 2020 · She was inspired to write Seal Morning, the story of her unusual childhood and close friendships with a talented seal, two mischievous squirrels, a beautiful red deer and a host of other wild animals.
Seal Morning follows the lives of Rowena and her aunt, over the next seven years. It combines descriptions of the wild uninhabited terrain, with anecdotal episodes of the variety of animals who shared their home.
Orphan, Rowena arrives in Norfolk to stay with her Aunt Miriam. Aunt Miriam is not too pleased when one day Rowena rescues a seal pup from the beach after local hunter Ted Yeoman shoots it's mother.
