King Sihahanu (Skt:Sīṃhahanu) was an ancient monarch and paternal grandfather of Gautama Buddha. He was one of the rulers of Shakya Clan. Family. Sīhahanu (सीहहनु) is another name for Siṃhahanu: the son of Hastikaśīrṣa: an ancient king from the Solar dynasty ( sūryavaṃśa) and a descendant of Mahāsaṃmata, according to the Mahāvastu chapter II.32 of the Mahāsaṃghikas (and the Lokottaravāda school).

Sihahanu was the Sakya kings of Kapilavatthu. Some text considers king Sihahanu as Jayasena's son, and Jayasena's daughter was named Yasodhara. Some Buddhist Sutta considers Jayasena as step brother of Sihahanu which is more likely correct. (Not to be confused with Buddha’s Yasodhara).
