17 de may. de 2005 · Pianist Marian McPartland has made a boatload of friends during her many years in jazz. Many of them turned out for her 85th birthday soirée at New York's Birdland club two years ago. That's right, the grand dame of jazz is now 87!
Concord Records, McPartland’s home for over a quarter century, thankfully now releases the bulk of the evening’s proceedings as 85 Candles. The 2-CD, 22-track collection splendidly captures the spirit and verve of the show.
