The Brooklyn Latin School provides a specialized, classical education, including the study of Latin and Greek, in a rigorous academic environment. It provides the groundwork for an understanding of the foundation of our society while developing the leadership capacity of our discipuli so that they may serve as leaders in our communities.
The Brooklyn Latin School is a public specialized high school in New York City. It opened in September 2006. The ideals governing Brooklyn Latin are borrowed largely from the Boston Latin School, and popular society's ideals. The school’s founding headmaster was Jason Griffiths.

Founded in 2006, Brooklyn Latin is modeled after Boston Latin, the nation’s oldest public high school. The Brooklyn school is one of New York City’s nine specialized high schools and the only one to offer an International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma, a rigorous degree widely accepted at universities in more than 100 countries.
The Brooklyn Latin School is the only specialized high school in New York City that has implemented the IB Diploma Programme. In a striking number of ways, the mission of International Baccalaureate aligns with and expands the vision of The Brooklyn Latin School.
