Derek Hussey, aka "Derek The Draw", who was Dury's friend and minder, joined the band in 2000. He became the main lyricist and Blockhead storyteller, writing songs with Jankel and also singing lead vocals. Hussey died in February 2022. John Roberts joined as drummer in 2001.

Derek Hussey is a long-time friend and roadie of Ian Dury, who died in 2000. He became the lead vocalist and songwriter of The Blockheads, a Seventies' new wave rock band, and continues to tour and record with them.
