Eugene Edward "Snooky" Young (February 3, 1919 – May 11, 2011) was an American jazz trumpeter. He was known for his mastery of the plunger mute, with which he was able to create a wide range of sounds.

His childhood friends gave him his nickname, Snooky. He began playing trumpet at the young age of six and played for over 85 years.
A great stylist of the trumpet, Eugene “Snooky” Young was the absolute master of the plunger mute, an instantly recognizable star with whomever he played. He was known for making his horn speak, shout, growl, and sigh with his mutes, while always swinging irresistibly.
