Inspired by jazz music heard on Voice Of America radio broadcasts, Szabó began playing guitar at the age of 14. Escaping Hungary in 1956 and moving to the US where he attended the Berkeley School Of Music in Boston.
Gábor Szabó (8 March 1936 – 26 February 1982) was a Hungarian jazz guitarist, famous for mixing jazz, pop-rock and his native Hungarian music. Szabó was born in Budapest and began playing guitar at the age of 14, inspired by jazz music on the Voice of America broadcasts.

24 de nov. de 2023 · In 1961, Szabó became member of a quintet that was led by Chico Hamilton and included Charles Lloyd, playing what has been described as chamber jazz, with “a moderate avant-gardism.” Szabó was influenced by the rock music of the 1960s, particularly the use of feedback.
Best Of Gabor Szabo In The CTI Years. While this Japanese CD release is the only collection highlighting Gabor Szabo’s noteworthy CTI years (1972-75), it is very likely an unofficial and unauthorized release. It does not appear to be issued by King Records, the Japanese owner of the CTI catalog.
