Rudolf Breitscheid (2 November 1874 – 28 August 1944) was a German politician and leading member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) during the Weimar Republic. Once leader of the liberal Democratic Union, he joined the SPD in 1912.

He was the editor of the party’s weekly publication “The Socialist” from 1918 to its closure in 1922. As representative of the USPD, he took on the office of Interior Minister in the first Prussian cabinet of the revolution from 1918 to 1919.
