Mir Qamar-ud-din Khan Siddiqi (11 August 1671 – 1 June 1748) also known as Chin Qilich Qamaruddin Khan, Nizam-ul-Mulk, Asaf Jah and Nizam I, was the first Nizam of Hyderabad. He was married to the daughter of a Syed nobleman of Gulbarga. [1]
The Asaf Jahi was a Muslim dynasty that ruled the Hyderabad State. [1] The family came to India in the late 17th century and became employees of the Mughal Empire. They were great patrons of Indo-Persian culture, language, and literature, and the family found ready patronage.
Asaf Jah was forced to revolt against the emperor due to political machinations, and Muhammad Shah was obliged to acknowledge Asaf Jah as the permanent Viceroy of the Deccan in 1724. Later that year, Asaf Jah declared himself Nizam and established the Asaf Jahi dynasty as its first ruler.
