Blair Mastbaum (born January 24, 1979) is an American writer and a former model who lives in Brooklyn, New York. Mastbaum fabricated a series of stories published by Atlas Obscura. The articles were retracted after investigations found plagiarism, fabricated quotes and interviews, and misinformation.
Blair is the author of Clay's Way and Us Ones In Between, and the co-editor of Cool Thing: Best Gay Fiction from Young American Writers. He's currently living in Portland, Oregon and working on a novel called Hommeboys about his time spent as a model.
Clay's Way is the debut novel of American writer Blair Mastbaum. Released in 2004 by Alyson Books, this contemporary novel, which won the Lambda Literary Award for LGBT Debut Fiction, [1] follows 15-year-old gay skateboarder Sam and the object of his affection, conflicted surfer Clay around Honolulu.
Blair Mastbaum won the Lambda Literary Foundation Award for Debut Fiction and garnered critical praise for his debut novel, Clay’s Way. Author John Rechy (City of Night) called it the “gay Catcher in the Rye .”. He lives in Brooklyn, NY.
