Paul Reed Smith Guitars, also known as PRS Guitars or simply PRS, is an American guitar and amplifier manufacturer located in Stevensville, Maryland. The company was founded in 1985 in Annapolis, Maryland by Paul Reed Smith.
While PRS’s continuing success in this regard demands a constant re-evaluation of materials, tools, and procedures, the bottom-line goal hasn’t changed since the days when Paul Smith hand-crafted his first instruments in an upstairs loft: Build extraordinary guitars, guitars with magic.
Paul Reed Smith construyó su primera guitarra cuando era universitario y, de ahí, fue construyendo y construyendo hasta llegar a ser uno de los luthiers más reputados del mundo. En 1.985 creó PRS Guitars y empezó a crear su propia línea de instrumentos.
SIGNATURE SERIES: 1986 - 1990. The first ‘ultimate quality wood grade’ PRS, hand-signed by Paul Reed Smith and based on the Custom, extremely figured (artist grade) maple top, bird inlays, only 1,000 made. SPECIAL: 1988 - 1991.
