Pune ( [puɳe] ⓘ) (del maratí: पुणे) o Poona es una ciudad ubicada en el oeste del estado de Maharastra, India. Es la séptima ciudad más poblada en la India, la segunda más grande en el estado de Maharashtra después de Bombay y la ciudad más grande de los Ghats Occidentales.

Pune is the 9th most populous city in India and one of the largest in the state of Maharashtra. Although area around Pune has history going back millennia, the more recent history of the city is closely related to the rise of the Maratha empire from the 17th–18th century.
The district has many privately run colleges and universities (including religious and special-purpose institutions). Most of the private colleges were founded after the Maharashtra state government of Chief Minister Vasantdada Patil liberalised the education sector in 1982.
