Bound Properties. A bound property notifies listeners when its value changes. This has two implications: The bean class includes addPropertyChangeListener() and removePropertyChangeListener() methods for managing the bean's listeners. When a bound property is changed, the bean sends a PropertyChangeEvent to its registered listeners.
The least upper bound property is the essential property of real numbers that permits the main theorems of calculus. It is the reason we use this large set, rather than, say, the algebraic numbers. It uniquely characterizes the real numbers as an extension of the rational numbers - see Theorem \(8.23\) for a precise statement.
SwingWorker supports bound properties, which are useful for communicating with other threads. Two bound properties are predefined: progress and state. As with all bound properties, progress and state can be used to trigger event-handling tasks on the event dispatch thread.
Every non-empty subset of the real numbers which is bounded from above has a least upper bound. In mathematics, the least-upper-bound property (sometimes called completeness, supremum property or l.u.b. property) is a fundamental property of the real numbers.
Theorem (Least Upper Bound Property): Every non-empty subset of $R$ that is bounded above has a least upper bound. The easy proof for Dedekind cuts shows that the least upper bound of a non-empty, bounded-above set $X$ of Dedekind cuts is obtained by taking the union of all the Dedekind cuts in $X$.
