Wendell Meredith Stanley (Ridgeville, Indiana, Estados Unidos, 16 de agosto de 1904 - Salamanca, España, 15 de junio de 1971) fue un químico, bioquímico y profesor universitario estadounidense galardonado con el Premio Nobel de Química en el año 1946.

Wendell Stanley was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work on the tobacco mosaic virus, the first virus to be isolated in pure form. He showed that the virus is composed of protein and RNA, and laid the foundation for virus research.

Wendell Meredith Stanley. Químico estadounidense. Wendell Meredith Stanley nació el 16 de agosto de 1904 en Ridgeville, Illinois. Cursó estudios en el Earlham College y en la Universidad de Illinois, donde se doctoró en Bioquímica en 1929 y continuó como investigador e instructor hasta 1930.
In 1948, he was appointed Professor of Biochemistry and Director of the Virus Laboratory, University of California; during 1948-1953 he was Chairman of the Department of Biochemistry, and in 1958 he became Professor of Virology and Chairman of the Department.
