25 de ago. de 2020 · The colorful puffleg (Eriocnemis mirabilis) is an endangered hummingbird endemic to Colombia. In 2005, Swarovski donated funds which allowed the American Bird Conservancy and Fundación ProAves to create a reserve for this species.
Large, lanky hummingbird of the high Andes; ranges from extreme southern Colombia south to Peru. Green with blue vent, white leg puffs, and fairly long tail. Birds from Ecuador have a blue forehead.
Rare hummingbird known only from a tiny area of Colombia’s western Andes west of Popayán. Adult male is iridescent green with a blue belly, red vent, and white leg puffs. Female and young male are duller and often look all dark in the field apart from the leg puffs and white spot behind eye.
