Liestal (Alemannic German: [ˈliə̯ʃd̥l̩], Standard German:), formerly spelled Liesthal, is the capital of Liestal District and the canton of Basel-Landschaft in Switzerland, 17 km (11 mi) south of Basel.

La entrada a la ciudad antigua está indicada por la Oberes Tor. Es una puerta situada al sur con una torre del siglo XIII que fue realzada en 1554.
