Review by noir1946 ★★★★½ 3. There were snickers when Luis Bunuel revealed that Portrait of Jennie was one of his favorite films, but there shouldn’t have been. Many of Bunuel’s films have the same dreamlike quality of William Dieterle’s film. The film is also a portrait of an artist that any artist in any medium can identify with.
