Sly Stone, geboren als Sylvester Stewart (Denton (), 15 maart 1943) is een Amerikaans muzikant, componist en platenproducer.Hij is het bekendst als voorman van Sly & the Family Stone, een band die een belangrijke rol had in de ontwikkeling van soul, funk en de psychedelische muziek, in de tweede helft van de jaren zestig en de eerste helft van de jaren zeventig.

His recently released memoir, Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin), offers an earnest look into the life and music of the funk and soul giant. "He's at the top of the pantheon for a certain part of rock ‘n’ roll and funk and soul, and should stay there," says Ben Greenman, who co-authored the memoir.
