Harold Maurice Abrahams (15. prosince 1899 Bedford – 14. ledna 1978 Londýn) byl britský atlet, sprinter, olympijský vítěz v běhu na 100 metrů z roku 1924.. Sportovní. Narodil se v rodině židovských přistěhovalců z Litvy. Studoval právo na univerzitě v Cambridge, kde se současně věnoval atletice - sprintům a skoku do dálky.
From an early age, Harold Abrahams set out to emulate his two elder brothers who were both excellent athletes. As a schoolboy at Repton, Harold won the 100 yards and the long jump at the 1918 Public Schools championships and then went up to Caius College, Cambridge, where during his four years’ residence he won a total of eight events in the annual match against Oxford.

As the movie tells it, Liddell was boarding a boat to the 1924 Paris Olympics when he discovered that the qualifying heats for his event, the 100-metre sprint, were scheduled for a Sunday.
Harold Maurice Abrahams was born prematurely in Bedford on 15 December 1899, the youngest in a family of two daughters and four sons. His father, Isaac Klonimus (1850-1921), who had proclaimed himself a Lithuanian Jew, escaped to Britain and by 1880 had changed his name to Abrahams, in recognition of his father, Abraham Klonimus (b 1810).
