Gould presided 8 years over ASCAP, the best presidency it ever had, while in the meantime composing and conducting symphonic orchestras all over. He never stopped. "Composing is my life", he once stated, "If I stop, I’ll have no life". Morton Gould died on February 21 st, 1996, aged 82.
