From 1835 until his untimely death in 1852, Pugin designed one hundred buildings, wrote eight books, and produced influential metalwork, furniture, and stained glass designs.. Pugin first derived artistic influence from his father, Auguste Charles Pugin -- a French-born expert on medieval architecture.
