John Franklin (Spilsby, 15 april 1786 – King William Island, 11 juni 1847) was een Britse marineofficier en ontdekkingsreiziger. Hij was Schout bij nacht van de Britse marine. Tijdens zijn laatste expeditie naar het noordpoolgebied kwamen zijn schepen vast te zitten in het poolijs van de Noordwestelijke Doorvaart die hij in kaart had willen brengen.

Sir John Franklin, född 16 april 1786 i Spilsby, Lincolnshire, död 11 juni 1847 till havs nära King William Island, Kanada, var en brittisk amiral och polarforskare. Franklin tog värvning i marinen 1800 och deltog i slaget vid Köpenhamn ( 1801 ) och vid Trafalgar ( 1805 ). 1801–03 deltog han i kusinen Matthew Flinders expedition till Australiens kuster. [ 11 ]
