Biographie. Kenny Burrel est le fils William Henry et d'Elizabeth (Day) Burrell [1], deux musiciens qui lui feront découvrir la musique [2].. Il apprend la guitare à partir de douze ans [3].. Après ses études secondaires, il entre à la Wayne State University où il obtient un Bachelor of Music (en) (équivalent d'une licence délivrée par le Conservatoire national supérieur de musique).
