I Spit on Your Grave (1978) - Eron Tabor came up with a backstory for Johnny - saying that he was a Vietnam veteran who'd discovered a love of violence and carnage while in the war and had grown bored with life since he got back. He bought a pair of boots that were a size too big and cut out the heels so that Johnny would have a lumbering walk, as well as smoking cigars to deepen his voice.
