During his period of exile, it is widely believed that Ecgberht found refuge at the court of Charlemagne, the Frankish king.

Two types are shown in JJ North's English Hammered Coinage, Vol. I, but searches for auction sales of that name will inevitably turn up a few later moneyers, and no King Beorhtric.
