Hace 5 días · 本作の前半5曲はケニー・バレルのオリジナル。 後半の4曲はデューク・エリントン等のスタンダードという構成。 参加メンバーは多彩で、ピアノにハンク・ジョーンズ、オルガンにジャック・マクダフ、テナーにイリノイ・ジャケーと豪華。 深くまったりとした『ミッドナイト・ブルー』とはやや異なり、アルバム全体として躍動感があり華やかな印象だ。 バップあり、ブルースあり、ラテン調ありと多彩で、バレルはシングルトーンでの流麗なソロは当然のこと、バックに回ってのカッティングも冴え渡っている。 とりわけ印象的なのは「The Switch」。 これぞハードバップと言わんばかりの痛快な演奏で、疾走感あふれるバレルのアドリブはもちろんのこと、イリノイ・ジャケーのエネルギッシュなブロウも聴き応え十分。
