Colonel Philip Pieterse Schuyler or Philip Pieterse (1628 – 9 May 1683) was a Dutch-born colonist landowner who was the progenitor of the American Schuyler family.

Philipse Pieterse Schuyler was the first outstanding member of early Albany's most important New Netherland-era family. He was born in Holland in 1628, the oldest child of German-born Amsterdam baker Pieter Diercks and Geertruy Philips van Schuyler.

By 1650, Philip Pieterse Schuyler emigrated to New Netherland, settling in Beverwyck. His brother, David Pieterse Schuyler, also emigrated from The Dutch Republic.
Peter Philip Schuyler (1657-1724) [Section 29] Militia Colonel, Governor of New York, the first mayor of Albany. Peter Schuyler, destined to be both Governor of New York and Mayor of Albany, belonged to one of the most prominent families in the Dutch settlements of modern New York and New Jersey.
Four generations later one of his best-known descendants was Philip Schuyler (1733–1804), a member of Congress and a leading figure in the American Revolution; he was in command of the American army at Saratoga before being replaced by Horatio Gates.
