Las principales causas asociadas a eventos por inundación en la ciudad, están referidas en su mayoría a fallas funcionales del sistema de drenaje y a los fenómenos climáticos de fuertes precipitaciones. Sin embargo se han identificado otras causas que detonan los procesos de inundación.
