Colonel John Douglas Slim, 2nd Viscount Slim, OBE, DL, FRGS (20 July 1927 – 12 January 2019), was a British peer, soldier and businessman. He was one of the 92 elected hereditary peers in the House of Lords , elected to remain after the passing of the House of Lords Act 1999 .

Colonel John Douglas Slim, 2nd Viscount Slim,, was a British peer, soldier and businessman. He was one of the 92 elected hereditary peers in the House of Lords, elected to remain after the passing of the House of Lords Act 1999.
Until 2019, the title was held by his son, the second Viscount, who succeeded in 1970 and was one of the ninety elected hereditary peers that remain in the House of Lords after the passing of the House of Lords Act of 1999, and sat as a crossbencher.

13 de ene. de 2019 · John Slim served as a lieutenant-colonel in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, was president of the Burma Star Association; appointed OBE in 1973; a Deputy Lieutenant for Greater London from 1988. He succeeded as 2nd Viscount Slim on his father's death, 14 December, 1970. He was elected to the House of Lords (Crossbencher) in 1999.
