The LeVeque Tower is a 47-story skyscraper in Downtown Columbus, Ohio. At 555 feet 5 inches (169.29 m) it was the tallest building in the city from its completion in 1927 to 1974, and remains the second-tallest today.
The iconic bell tower houses 25,000 pounds of bells, added in 1915, that chime every 15 minutes. The columns in the Orton Hall foyer recognize the 24 principal 19th century building stones of Ohio.
The bell tower was dedicated in 1915 and contains 25,000 pounds of bells that can be heard regularly tolling across campus in the key of E-flat. Encircling the top of the tower are 24 columns with gargoyle-like figures which are restorations of fossil animals.
