Altern 8 is a British electronic music act, comprising Mark Archer and Chris Peat, until Peat left the group in 1994. Best known in the early 1990s, their trademark was electronic rave music with a heavy bass line.

Archer was a founder member of Bizarre inc... before starting up a new project under the name Nexus 21 as well as the side project Altern 8. Altern 8 crashed the UK charts in 1991 with ‘Infiltrate 202’ and ‘Activ-8 (come with me)’, two chaotic slices of hardcore, the latter reaching number 3.
Mark Archer is an American filmmaker who produced and directed In the Company of Men, which won the Filmmaker's Trophy at Sundance in 1997. He also worked on Dysphoria, The Mind Polluters, American Reel and other projects.
