Se trata del primer volumen de "The Art of The Trio" (1997), disco que le supuso la fama y las odiosas comparaciones con Evans y Ademuz (1998), uno de los discos emblemáticos del jazz grabado en España que además esta grabado a trío con Mehldau y Mark Turner.
"Perico Sambeat, an overlooked Spanish altoist and composer, recorded this album in 1995 with the help of future superstars Brad Mehldau, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and Mark Turner. Michael Leonhart, the underrated trumpeter, is the session's third horn.
Pianist Brad Mehldau's recollection of the record was that it "combined jazz and flamenco music in a new way". Sambeat was also producer for the album. Reception. The Penguin Guide to Jazz described it as "overcrowded with detail and noise", but concluded that it is "a charismatic and frequently exciting record."

Brad Mehldau ( Jacksonville, Florida, 23 de agosto de 1970) es un pianista de jazz estadounidense . Biografía. Comienzos. Se crio en West Hartford, Connecticut y se graduó del instituto público Hall en 1988.
