The University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA) is the liberal arts and sciences school of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Established in 1841, the college is home to both the University of Michigan Honors Program and Residential College.
The College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (or LSA for short) is the largest college at U-M, offering more majors, more flexibility, and more possibilities when you graduate. Here’s more of what makes us different.
In 1841, the university held its first classes in Ann Arbor with a handful of students, featuring a curriculum rooted in literature, science, and the arts—a revolutionary approach that viewed the world through many lenses instead of just one.
With over 40 top-ranked academic programs, LSA is the University of Michigan's vanguard for educating young leaders through a rich liberal arts curriculum.
To qualify for a degree from the College of Literature, Science and the Arts, a student must complete a minimum 120 credits with a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 (C). A minimum of 60 credits towards degree must be completed in residence.
