Gerard Catholic High School was a Roman Catholic high school which opened in 1962 in Phoenix, Arizona. It was named for Msgr. Edward Gerard, one of the first ordained priests to minister in the Arizona territory.
Gerard High School (later rebranded Gerard Catholic High School) opened in 1962 and closed in 1989. Lacking a central repository, GHS memorabilia is scattered among St. Mary’s, Bourgade, and Seton high schools, and various alumni and faculty homes.
The high schools in the Diocese of Columbus are different than what you might find in other Catholic school systems. Ten of the 11 high schools are Diocesean owned and operated. One – St. Charles Preparatory – began as the Diocesan seminary and remains all-male.
