Runaway Sunday is the sixth studio album by Altan, released in July 1997 on the Virgin Records label.

In 1997 she sang harmony vocals in both English and Irish on the album Runaway Sunday by Irish traditional band Altan. In 1998 she played and sang on the title track of Hawaiian slack-key artist Ledward Kaapana's album, Waltz of the Wind. Krauss had her only number one hit in 2000, receiving vocal credit for "Buy Me a Rose".
Two Nashville figures--singer Alison Krauss and dobroist Jerry Douglas--as well as Chieftains flutist Matt Molloy help out on Altan's new album, Runaway Sunday, but the recording is dominated by Altan's co-founder and undisputed leader, Mairead Ni Mhaonaigh, a virtuoso of the legendary fiddle tradition of her native County Donegal.
