The Amboy Dukes were an American rock band formed in 1964 in Chicago, Illinois, and later based in Detroit, Michigan. [1] . They are best known for their only hit single, "Journey to the Center of the Mind". [2] . The band's name comes from the title of a novel by Irving Shulman.
In 1979, Bregante left the group and drummers Michael Buono and then Michael Gardner replaced Bregante on stage with the group on tour, only to be succeeded by Vic Mastrianni in 1981. Al Garth moved on to Pure Prairie League in 1982 and later joined the Eagles' live lineup.
Tooth Fang & Claw was the final album from Ted Nugent and The Amboy Dukes. At the time, the band consisted of Nugent, Rob Grange contributing bass lines and drummer Vic Mastrianni. The album has the feel of the outdoors and Ted's love for hunting and rock and roll.
