Violet Astor, Baroness Astor of Hever DStJ (née Elliot-Murray-Kynynmound, styled Lady Charles Fitzmaurice between 1909 and 1914 and Lady Charles Mercer Nairne between 1914 and 1918; 28 May 1889 – 3 January 1965), was an English aristocrat.
Irene Astor, Baroness Astor of Hever (née Irene Violet Freesia Janet Augusta Haig) (7 October 1919 – 12 August 2001) was an English philanthropist and member of the Astor family.
From 28 August 1916, her married name became Astor. She was invested as a Dame of Grace, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (D.St.J.). As a result of her marriage, Lady Violet Mary Elliot-Murray-Kynynmound was styled as Baroness Astor of Hever on 21 January 1956.
In 1903 when William Waldorf Astor set about restoring Hever Castle to its former glory, he added the Astor Wing, to accommodate his family and guests, before creating a lake and the spectacular Italian Garden to house his impressive collection of ancient Greek and Roman statuary.
