Swampwater was an American country rock band, that formed and started out initially as Linda Ronstadt’s backing group in the late 1960s, soon after she went solo. They are famous for incorporating cajun and swamp rock elements into their music.

Swampwater. Swampwater started out as a continuation of Gib Guilbeau & Wayne Moore 's band The Reasons, better known as Nashville West. The original lineup of The Reasons was Gib (vocals, rhythm guitar), Wayne (vocals, bass guitar), Gene Parsons (drums), and Clarence White (2) (lead guitar).
Formed by John Beland (guitar, dobro, piano), Gib Gilbeau (fiddle, guitar), Stan Pratt (drums), and Eric White (bass) -- Clarence's brother, and an ex-member of the Kentucky Colonels -- in 1969, Swampwater specialized in a then unique Louisiana-based style of rock & roll.
