Peter Jan Schoomaker (born February 12, 1946) is a retired four-star general of the United States Army who served as the 35th Chief of Staff of the United States Army from June 11, 2003, to April 10, 2007.

General Peter J. Schoomaker is a former Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army and a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He advises on defense matters and serves on the board of MAG Aerospace, a Danish company that provides aerospace and defense solutions.
General Schoomaker served as the Commanding General of the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) from July 1994 to August 1996, followed by Command of the U.S. Army Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg through October 1997.
