Carte Patrick Goodwin (born February 27, 1974) is an American attorney and politician who served as a United States senator from West Virginia in 2010. A member of the Democratic Party, he was appointed by Governor Joe Manchin on July 16, 2010 to fill the vacancy created by the death of Robert Byrd.
Carte Goodwin is a partner and appellate lawyer at Frost Brown Todd, with experience in litigation, government relations and transactions. He served in the West Virginia Legislature and the U.S. Senate before returning to private practice.

Carte Goodwin was a Democratic member of the U.S. Senate from the state of West Virginia. Carte was appointed to the senate in July of 2010 by then-Governor Joe Manchin to fill the seat of Senator Robert C. Byrd, who had died while in office.
