Otto Schuhart (4 September 1909 – 10 March 1990) was a German submarine commander during World War II, who commanded the U-boat U-29 and was credited with the sinking of the aircraft carrier HMS Courageous on 17 September 1939, the first British warship to be lost in the war.
10 de mar. de 1990 · Otto Schuhart began his naval career in April 1929. Later he spent two years on the battleship Schleswig-Holstein. In 1936 he joined the U-boat force. On his first war patrol he sank the British aircraft carrier HMS Courageous (Rohwer, 1998).
Otto Schuhart (* 4. September 1909 in Hamburg; † 10. März 1990 in Stuttgart) war ein deutscher Marineoffizier. Im Zweiten Weltkrieg gelang ihm als U-Boot -Kommandant die erste Versenkung eines Flugzeugträgers, der HMS Courageous .

He was to pick up fuel, procured by a secret agent, off Cape Finisterre. On May 3 he took on fuel and provisions from the steamer, Marzela, in the Cape Cee area.
