Travis Banton (August 18, 1894 – February 2, 1958) was an American costume designer. He is perhaps best known for his long collaboration with actress Marlene Dietrich and director Josef von Sternberg. He is generally considered one of the most important Hollywood costume designers of the golden age.

Travis Banton (1894-1958) was a star costume designer at Paramount in the 1930s, known for his glamorous and daring creations for stars like Marlene Dietrich. He also worked for other studios, Greer Inc. and his own label, and won an Oscar for The Paradine Case (1947).

Travis Banton was the star costume designer at Paramount during the studio's heyday of glamour and sophistication in the 1930's. During his tenure (1924-38), he created imaginative, often daring designs for stars like Kay Francis, Carole Lombard, Mae West and, most famously, Marlene Dietrich.
