28 de ago. de 2022 · You have a metal outlet/switch box, which should be grounded, and while pushing the wires back something hot (usually the screw posts) touched the box. You're explaining damage to the ground wire and your box is likely modern plastic so this is probably not the problem.
A light short occurs when the conductors inside a light fixture contact each other. To fix, replace the damaged wires or tighten the loose connections.

Went to install a bulb into an empty socket in a ceiling fixture this evening. When I began inserting the bulb into the socket, a shower of sparks came out and I pulled back. The base of the bulb has a small gash burned though it. What would cause this to occur? Do I need to replace the ceiling fixture?
13 de dic. de 2016 · If the ground wires touch the metal box the breaker pops and the ground wires spark. The main feed comes out of a ceiling light fixture box. The ceiling box is two wire BX. I'm using NM to feed the junction box.
