The Cat o' Nine Tails (Italian: Il gatto a nove code) is a 1971 English-language Italian film directed by Dario Argento, adapted from a story by Dardano Sacchetti, Luigi Cozzi, and an uncredited Bryan Edgar Wallace. It stars Karl Malden, James Franciscus, and Catherine Spaak.

When a break-in occurs at a secretive genetics institute, blind puzzle-maker Franco, who overheard an attempt to blackmail one of the institute’s scientists, teams up with reporter Carlo to crack the case. As bodies begin to pile up, the amateur sleuths find their own lives imperilled.
