In response to one of the Calls to Action — increase diversity in student body and admissions committee — the Cumming School of Medicine, in collaboration with the Calgary BMSA, has established an optional Black Applicant Admissions Process for those who apply to our Undergraduate Medical Education program.
The University of Calgary Faculty of Medicine was established in 1967 and renamed the Cumming School of Medicine in 2014. It is one of two medical schools in Alberta and one of 17 in Canada.
The Cumming School Medicine of the University of Calgary offers a three-year professional degree leading to a Doctor of Medicine (MD). Following completion of the undergraduate medical program students must complete postgraduate medical training prior to starting independent practice.
