From 2021 to 2022, the prevalence of moderate or severe food insecurity rose in Eastern Africa, Middle Africa and Southern Africa by 2.4, 3.0 and 1.2 percentage points, respectively. The prevalence in 2022 ranged from 25.9 percent in Southern Africa to 78.4 percent in Middle Africa.
