Green Hills Zone se asemeja a la tradicional Green Hill. Es una zona situada entre verdes colinas de South Island. Hay montañas al fondo y árboles y flores crecen un poco más cerca. No hay muchos elementos de juego nuevos en Green Hills Zone.
The background of the Zone features sharp hills, green forests and waterfalls on the other side of a bright lake. Green Hill Zone also includes tall palm trees, bright moving flowers, hard pointed bushes and different types of totem poles with several facial expressions.

Green Hill Zone a (o simplemente Green Hill) es el primer nivel del videojuego de plataformas Sonic the Hedgehog, que se lanzó para Sega Genesis en 1991. El nivel es cubierto de hierba y exuberante, con características ambientales como palmeras, bucles verticales y acantilados, y es el hogar de numerosos animales del bosque.
This Zone, like the original Green Hill Zone, is filled with rolling plains of green and loop-de-loops which Sonic the Hedgehog must defy gravity in order to speed around. It also contains a couple of flip-ramps that appeared in Green Hill Zone of Sonic the Hedgehog (8-bit).
