The Bewitched Man (also known as The Devil's Lamp) is a painting completed c. 1798 by Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes. It is an oil painting on canvas and depicts a scene from a play by Antonio de Zamora called The man bewitched by force (Spanish: El hechizado por fuerza).
In the book shown in the extreme foreground we can read the fragments "LAM/DESCO" (from "Lámpara descomunal", or "Monstrous lamp"), in reference to the first two words of the monologue that the character of Don Claudio addresses to the lamp: "Monstrous lamp / whose vile reflection / just like a wick / sucks up my life's oil / ...".

Either name fits and it's the story of a man who thinks he's been bewitched and that his life depends on whether a certain lamp remains lit.
