Heinrich Link studierte ab 1786 in Göttingen Medizin und Naturwissenschaften und wurde mit dem Thema zur chemischen Analyse des Harns 1789 promoviert. Die Rostocker Universität berief Heinrich Link 1792 zum Professor für Chemie, Zoologie und Botanik.
